Sarah Lindsay once attended an NSML meet. This was during our (the '94s) recruitment phase sophomore year when we all tried to get more people. Sarah was in my Health class at the time, so I got her to attend a meet. Later in that Health class, Sarah earned the distinction of catching a communicable disease during an in-class exercise on the subject while not being in class. The idea was that three people (their identities unknown to anyone) received "diseases", then each person in the class was to talk to three others, keeping track of order. Then the diseased people would be revealed, and the spread of the disease would be checked. Sarah Lindsay (not to be confused with the four othe people in that class named Sarah) was absent that day, but her then-boyfriend was the original carrier of one of the diseases, so the teacher wrote Sarah's name on the list for that disease anyway. Jennie Emerson got the same disease from Sarah's boyfriend because he talked to her after she had filled her quota. (I never liked him anyway. Sarah broke up with him early in the 1993 softball season (I've been told that she socked him once in their third-hour physics class. I would have paid money to see that, but I had schedule conflicts, so they had to relegate me to first hour), but they still were voted "Most Active Couple In The Hall" by the Class of 1994 (kind of a "meritorious service" award, I suppose).) As for me, I talked to four people willingly and stayed healthy. Go figure. Sarah also was a softball player, a middle infielder. Her only year on varsity she wore #20, the same jersey I would have as a senior. Her junior varsity number was #14, which is why I gave her #14 here. Sarah is very much herself. She is someone I enjoy very much carrying on a converstion with, even if we may put those around us to sleep. She came to visit me last February when her boyfriend was visiting people at UIUC, and he literally did fall asleep on my roommate's bed while Sarah and I were talking. Oh well. She's a very pleasant person, and she's someone I hope I still get to see every once in a while. So far, given she saw me in February, that last part is working out well.
